KASHMIR REGION
Kashmir is the valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range.
As one crosses the 2.5 kms long Jawahar tunnel of mighty Pir Panjal Range, kashmir valley
begins. Kashmir valley is famous all over the world for it picturesque beauty, landscape
and climate, besides its beauty Kashmir valley is also known for its adventure potential,
it offers vast platform for adventure activities.
Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg are prime attractions in Kashmir valley
and are known as good as when one thinks to visit Kashmir these four places come
in mind at first. But besides these four place there are many other unexplored place
in Kashmir which are more beautiful than any other place, and on visiting those
places one cannot doubt the famous phrase “Agar firdous baroy-e- zamin ast,
hami asto, hamin asto, hamin ast.” “If there is a heaven on earth, it is here, it
is here,”

Best time to Visit:
Kashmir has four distinct seasons, each with its own peculiar character and distinctive
charm. These are spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each season has its own charm,
one can visit Kashmir anytime as per his choice of season.
Spring- which
extends roughly from March to early May, is when a million blossoms carpet the ground.
The weather during this time can be gloriously pleasant at 23°C or chilly and windy
at 10°C. This is the season when Srinagar experiences rains, but the showers are
brief.
Clothing: Light
Woolen Clothes, Rain Coat must.
Summer- Extends
from May until the end of August. Srinagar at this time experiences day temperatures
of between 25°C and 32°C. At this time, the whole valley is a mosaic of varying
shades of green - rice fields, meadows, trees, etc. and Srinagar with its lakes
and waterways is a heaven after the scorching heat of the Indian plains. This is
the best season to visit for nature lovers.
Clothing: Summer
clothes, light sweater / Light jacket or Rain Coat.
Autumn- The onset
of autumn, perhaps Kashmir's loveliest season, is towards September, when green
turns to gold and then to russet and red. One can have view of Chinars in Autumn
which cant be found anywhere else. The highest day temperature in September is
around 23°C and night temperature dips to 10°C by October.
Clothing: Light

Winter- From December
to the beginning of March is winter time, which presents Srinagar in yet another
mood. Bare low lying areas, snow-covered hilly areas. When it snows whole valley
is covered in white blanket, which gives a mesmerizing view. Temperature ranges
from -6 °C to 5 °C during night and day respectively at Low lying areas where as
at higher Altitudes it varies, it may be -8°C to 1°C during and day respectively.
One can enjoy frozen water bodies.
Where to Stay:
In Kashmir almost at all the places one can can find best hotels, guest houses,
house boats in different budget ranges for all the seasons, well equipped to deal
with the challenges of weather.
How To Reach:
By Road: The overland
approach to Kashmir Valley is only via Jammu – Srinagar highway, it z about 300kms
from Jammu to Srinagar. The lone national Highway from Jammu to Srinagar 300 kms lone
(8-10 hours drive) is amazing with breath taking and eye soothing scenery, the river
Chenaab runs several kilometers along the national highway which adds beauty to
the journey.
By Train: Kashmir
valley is not yet fully connected by train with rest of country. The project is
in process and will be completed soon.
By Air: Kashmir
Valley is well connected by airlines to the rest of world. Srinagar International
airport receives regular numerous flights from Delhi, Jammu, Mumbai, Bangalore and
Leh through flights operated by different airlines, the fares range and depend on
the season and tourist influx.
