How to reach Vaishno Devi temple
Mata Vaishno Devi is easily accessible by both air and land means of transport.
Most pilgrims prefer to take the train or bus till Jammu and then opt for either buses or cabs till Katra. Buses also ply directly to Katra from Delhi. From Jammu, it takes about 1 - 1.5 hrs drive. The way to the shrine is an uphill climb which could either be negotiated by stairs or walking with sticks. Alternatively, palanquins and ponies are available for those who cannot manage the uphill climb.
Helicopter services in Vaishno Devi:
Helicopter services are also available. A one way ride from Katra (base) to Sanjichhat costs INR 800 per person. The flight duration is approximately 8 mins and at a time around 5 to 6 persons are accommodated. The helipad at Katra is 2 km from Katra bus stand, while the Vaishno Devi temple is 2.5 km from Sanjichhat helipad.
